With the exhibition schedule now in the rearview mirror, NFL betting lines fans can turn their attention to the future and week one of the regular season. Here is a quick look at two key matchups from week one in the NFL.
Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday, 1:00 PM ET
The Buccaneers were the league’s surprise team a year ago, improving from a non-contender to a team that finished 10-6 and only narrowly missed out on the playoffs behind the eventual Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers. Tampa Bay will open this season with even higher expectations as they look to take another step forward and perhaps even reach the postseason, but it won’t be easy week one with the team that is expected to be the most improved this year visiting in the Lions. Detroit has a ton of talent on both sides of the ball, and will look for a quick sports betting start.
NFL Betting Lines Pick: Detroit Lions + 2
Minnesota Vikings @ San Diego Chargers
Sunday, 4:15 PM ET
Chargers’ head coach Norv Turner didn’t have to go fishing deep for answers to why his team missed out on the postseason a year ago as another slow start cost them in the AFC West race. Determined to avoid the complacency that seemed to set in a year ago and ruin their season early on, San Diego pushed through the exhibition schedule appearing in midseason form and will not look back. The Vikings appear to have improved but still have too many question marks on both sides of the ball, which leaves Phillip Rivers and the Chargers to do their thing at home.
NFL Betting Lines Pick: San Diego Chargers – 8.5
