No Crown For “King” James

Preakness betting players wagering on the horse betting favorite, Super Saver, may want to stay away from the NBA betting news this year, as the league MVP-led favorites for the title were ousted in a major upset, and it could be the final nail in the coffin for this group.

Cleveland rolled through the regular season with the best record, and romped to a first-round win over Chicago, while LeBron James received his second straight MVP award. But the Cavaliers ran into a Boston team that won the championship just two years ago, and used all of that experience to eliminate James and the Cavaliers in six games. James averaged 26.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 7.2 assists, but the Celtics harassed him into shooting 44.7%, down from 56.7% against the Bulls, and James also shot 26.9% from long range. His triple-double in Game 6 was overshadowed by his nine turnovers on the night, and he just wasn't as aggressive as we're used to seeing, especially late in the game. It's not all on James, though: Antawn Jamison was 2-of-10 for five points in the final game, while Mo Williams scored just two of his 22 points in the first half. Despite a good start, Williams just stopped looking for his shot, and that killed the Cavs.

So, where does Cleveland go from here? Obviously, the major storyline is James' free agency, which will dominate the headlines until July 1. Mike Brown almost certainly won't be back as coach of the Cavaliers, which is more proof of the recent "Coach of the Year curse". Cleveland's betting odds depend entirely on James' decision, so buckle up for a wild 47 days of speculation.
